Salmon Fishing
BC / Alaska Chinook salmon weigh in between 15 and 70 lbs.
The average size caught by our guests over the past 15 years
has been approximately 30lbs. Coho salmon run from 10 to 20
lbs. and average 13 lbs.
Most of our salmon
fishing is done with lightweight 11' custom rods with
single action reels. We use herring for bait while slow trolling
and motor mooching in the current near kelp beds where feeding
Chinook and Coho salmon are chasing bait.
Light tackle fishing for Northern Coho from late July to
mid September is incredible. The ferocious fighting ability
of these fish must be experienced first hand. E-mail

Fly Fishing
The Dolphins North area, rich in schools of baitfish, is the feeding
ground for millions of migrating salmon. For the fly fisherman,
the northern waters of British Columbia, Canada are an ideal fishing
location to cast saltwater streamer flies while tied to the kelp
beds.
Fly fishing for Chinook salmon is the most difficult, they take
the longest time to land and their size and strength offers the
ultimate test to the fly fishing angler. The plentiful and aggressive
Coho salmon will take a fly more readily and fights on the surface,
jumping and running: the perfect fish to take on a fly rod.
Pink salmon take a fly very well at the right time of the year
and, like Coho, also fight on the surface. Dolphins North also offers
fly fishing opportunities for 12 different types of saltwater bass
and cod. E-mail

Halibut
Fishing
The dark, deep waters of northern BC are the haunts of halibut,
one of the finest eating fish in the ocean. Ranging from 20 to 200
lbs., halibut are a challenge to boat but it's worth it to land
one of these monsters because they are such a delicacy to eat. Halibut
is fished for on the bottom using bait and heavier tackle.
